The individual's primary role is to provide Teradata application database administration. This includes support of the Teradata development environments and as liaison to a centralized production DBA staff. In addition, this individual may be called upon to assist in designing and developing complex SQL for purposes of data presentation via Views or for data validation. Detailed responsibilities include:
- Creation of Teradata objects including tables, UPIs/NUPIs,USIs/NUSIs,JI/AJIs, macros, and views.
- Streamline and perform promotion of DDL through development, test, and when necessary QA environments.
- Understand security, roles, profiles and appropriate grant rights in development when needed.
- Interface with the Centralized Data Administration team as it relates to the end customer testing and production environments.
- Performance tuning of Teradata applications; DDL, SQL, BI queries.
- Mentor development teams on performance and tuning techniques.
- Space monitoring and management of development environments.
- Ensure the integrity of Teradata objects within the test environments - includes stats management, source code management, backup/recovery, and data refreshes of development environments.
- Work with the logical and physical modeling staff to implement new tables and enhance existing tables in support of multiple projects.
- Monitor Teradata application(s) performance using PMON.
- Develop/test/implement BTEQ, MLoad, Fast Export/Loads, in a UNIX and / or MVS environment
